ABOUT NORTHERNTOOL
ABOUT US
Northern Tool Manufacturing Company opened its doors in 1952. Donald Reynolds, mold building supervisor at General Electric in Springfield MA started Northern Tool when General Electric closed its Springfield facility.
Since then Northern Tool has been building molds for the electrical, toy, cosmetic, and other consumer industries.
In 1973, George Frigo joined the company; eventually assuming responsibility for the entire operation. It became obvious to George that a larger facility was necessary to house the growing company. In 1974, Northern Tool moved to its present location in the Industrial Park in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The next big step for Northern Tool came in 1980 when the current location was expanded to 15,000 sq. ft. to make room for the molding department.
The molding department started to sample the molds before shipping to the customer. It has now expanded to six thermoset injection, two thermoplastic injection and one compression molding machine with a fully qualified Inspection department. Northern Tool is a specialist in the field of thermoset molds and thermoset molding working with some of the largest companies in the world.
Greg Frigo and Anthony Frigo, George's sons, joined Northern Tool in the mid 1990's. With George's retirement in 2009, Anthony has taken over the General Management position, with Greg handling all of the sales and customer relations. Northern Tool is well positioned to continue expanding upon the path that was established in 1952. With its policy of always putting the needs of the customer first and exploring and implementing the latest technologies, Northern Tool Manufacturing Company will continue to be successful well into the future.
